TAOS STORYTELLING BIG STAGE SHOW featuring our local favorite Cisco Guevara, three lively StorySLAM poets competing to determine the Taos StorySLAM Grand Champion 2016, and our featured storyteller Laura Simms which the New York Times describes as "Irresistible! A major force in the revival of storytelling in America." Join your host and Festival Director James Navé for this evening of storytelling you won't soon forget.

ADULT STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

Transforming Monsters facilitated by our main feature storyteller, writer, humanitarian, Laura Simms. In this workshop, you will construct a compelling story about how transformation takes place. Using a traditional tale as a template, and mindfulness practices that uncover presence, you will create an imaginative personal story. The workshop combines story listening, creative writing, dialogue and dyads, with contemplative exercises, and discussion.

YOUTH STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

SATURDAY: 10:00-12:00 PM

Movement, Myth, and Stories, with master storyteller ELAINE MURAY. In this workshop, free for youth, Elaine will blend her distinctive highly physical storytelling style which with the use of cloth, masks, movement, and storytelling magic. Elaine will show the students how, they too, can make magic out of the stories of their lives.

Special storytelling event for students and teachers @ Taos Middle School

Storyteller Elaine Muray visits Taos Middle School where she’ll present two storytelling programs. The students will experience Elaine’s distinctive highly physical storytelling style which incorporates the use of cloth, masks, movement, and magic in her work. Elaine will show the students how, they too, can make magic out of the stories of their lives.
